Kay Friave

Kay is a very old, very powerful fire elemental who is just now cavorting around in a human body.

She is (of course) smarmy, volatile, enthusiastic and passionate to varying degrees. She is also sometimes very thoughtful, given her long view, and she has more insight into human beings (and other assorted sentients) than she cares to admit to. The noisy personality isn't exactly a front, but it does provide nice cover for a deep well of patience and experience that she prefers to keep quiet.

Kay's human body is as close to legitimate as she can make it. For the most part she sticks to strictly human, due to some obscure set of rules she's made up for herself, but she'll cheat to save her own skin if she needs to. Most of the time she'll drive a car, clip her toenails, go to work, sleep, eat, fuck -- basically put up a pretty accurate facsimile. Among more supernatural company she may adjust accordingly and use more of her natural skills.

Physical

The truth is at different points in the timeline she'll be wearing a slightly different body; she differentiates between 'lifetimes' through minor changes to a template.

The basics, however, stay the same. She clocks in at a diminutive 5'2, give or take an inch, and tends to be built on lines more sturdy than petite, with wide hips, squared shoulders, and curves. Her hair is straight and coppery red and will usually fall somewhere between her earlobes and her shoulderblades. Her eyes are slightly up-tilted, brown, and shrewd. Her skin is usually more ruddy than pale, and she tans easily.

She is unpreoccupied with primping for the most part and will usually wear what's comfortable and unassuming. She shades more tomboy than femme, but without any particular dedication to the look: she'll like jeans, tees, canvas jackets, runners... in winter, parkas and toques and big fluffy gloves, yes, with a full sense of the irony of a fire elemental bundling up.

Her default age tends to be between twenty-three and twenty-seven. Her body will age if she doesn't reset it now and then, though, so if you catch her in a time and place she's been living in for a while, she can easily be upwards of that.

Context

Kay is coming off of an immediate previous lifetime: a successful go around the block that involved partnering with a smarmy bastard of which she grew inordinately fond -- fond enough to spawn and raise a couple of kids, rout and obliterate one of her biggest enemies, and grow pleasantly old with. A strange confluence of events means she's going to meet him again in give-or-take three hundred years, and she's thinking she'll probably just stay human throughout that time and see what happens.

The upshot is that Kay, as she is at the moment, is at loose ends. She's also still in some degree of mourning for a life that meant a lot to her, which is something she keeps close to her chest. It's an odd state to be in given that no one that she's ostensibly lost is actually gone -- Aaron, her partner, will find her again given time, and her two most recent children are alive and well and carrying on their own lives.

So she's been playing it a bit fast and loose, looking for interesting people to occupy her time and thoughts, and for adventures she might go on. Kay as she is right now is leaning towards the brash and the extroverted, and letting her more thoughtful and serious qualities lay low for the moment.
